Hand Fasting is an ancient Celtic tradition - where the term 'tying the knot' comes from. By placing tartan around your joined hands is a symbolic gesture to represent your union as a married couple.
Using tartan shows the joining together, becoming part of the 'Clan' and embraces your Scottish Heritage, making it part of the ceremony. Here we have created a hand fasting tartan ribbon - it is 120cm (47") long by 8-10cm (3-4") wide.
We have fringed the edges which looks really nice on this heavier tartan. This is the Old and Rare Tartan Range. We can also do this in all the other tartan ranges - please contact us to find out more. The Old and Rare tartans are medium weight and are around 13-14oz.
Each handfasting ribbon is made to order, so please allow 2-3 weeks for the item to be dispatched.
